Caving at Mole Creek

Tasmania is a mecca for cavers. Deb Hunter, local caver and conservationist, welcomes nature lovers to explore Mole Creek’s undeveloped caves and World Heritage Area. This is a comprehensive tour: a perfect blend of nature immersion, adventure, science and culture. Deb is the perfect host, whether you’re after a mild or wild experience in these caves not normally open to the public. A minimum of two people can generate a trip.

Aboriginal land: The caves’ location is kooparoona niara (Great Western Tiers), cultural landscape of the pallatorre people of lutruwita. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the elders past, present and emerging. We work beside present aboriginal custodians. We honour and respectfully interpret this living culture to visitors.

Sustainability: This Eco-Certified business goes much further than compliance with official Parks and Wildlife license conditions. Ecotourism Australia defines ecotourism as ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that foster environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation. The ECO Certification logo is a globally recognised brand that assists travellers to choose and experience a genuine and authentic tour, attraction or accommodation that is environmentally socially and economically sustainable.

Since first developing the business operations through the 1990s, caring for the environment we operate in is essential to the sustainability and the authenticity of the experience. Continual innovations to reduce our impact, care of the surrounding land, increasing resilience in the landscape and education on potential human impacts are part of the story. Understanding the vulnerability of caves and their environs to the effects of climate change and helping look after the caves while on tour makes sustainability real. We also conduct conservation work with visitors.

Deb loves sharing information on these and Australia’s other arid karstlands fauna based on her experience under the Nullarbor; ask about them when you come on a Wild Cave Tour.
